Homesteading

Homesteading, in the city

Turns out, the garden has opinions.

Some of my favorite lessons have come from things that absolutely do not care about my plans. A garden growing where I didn’t expect it. Chickens turning biology into breakfast. A table getting fuller the more room I make around it.

For me, homesteading isn’t about escaping the city or doing any of it perfectly. It’s about tending to what’s in front of me, building a home that feels like ours, and paying attention to what the garden, the animals, the food, and the seasons keep trying to teach me.
